How Long Does Copyright Last?

A work is in copyright for 70 years from the end of the year in which the author died. A publisher will also hold copyright for the typographical arrangement of a literary work; this is typically 25 years from the date of publication. The period of time for copyright can vary with different types of material, for example, photographs and sound recording, it is recommended that you seek advice from the Copyright Licensing Agency if you are unsure.
